New Omni Bank Renews $20,000 Commitment to 2026 Scholarship Program

Key Takeaway

Investing in the Next Generation

At New Omni Bank, we are proud to announce a $20,000 donation to the Asian Pacific Community Fund (APCF) in support of the 2026 New Omni Bank Scholarship Program, continuing our partnership with APCF for a second consecutive year to uplift high-achieving students across Southern California.

The 2026 New Omni Bank Scholarship Program, administered by APCF, will award a total of $15,000 in direct scholarships, supporting 15 high school seniors with $1,000 each as they prepare to begin their college journeys. New Omni Bank’s total $20,000 contribution also supports the administrative costs and outreach efforts of APCF to ensure the program reaches the students who need it most.

This donation reflects our long-term commitment, rooted in the belief that education is one of the most powerful pathways to opportunity.

2026 Scholarship Overview

The 2026 New Omni Bank Scholarship is designed for economically challenged students who:

  • Reside in Los Angeles County, Orange County, or San Bernardino County
  • Plan to attend a U.S.-accredited four-year college or university as a full-time, degree-seeking student in Fall 2026

The program is open to students of all academic majors and reflects New Omni Bank’s commitment to expanding access to higher education within the communities we serve.

Building on a Strong Foundation

Our continued support builds on the meaningful impact of the 2025 scholarship program. In 2025, together with APCF, we awarded 15 scholarships to exceptional high school seniors from Los Angeles, Orange, and San Bernardino Counties — students who demonstrated academic excellence, leadership, and a deep commitment to their communities.

Scholarship Impact at a Glance (2025):

  • 285 total applications received
  • 41% of applicants identified as first-generation college students
  • Over 90% came from minority backgrounds
  • 15 students awarded scholarships

“These students represent the promise of our communities,” said Leon Sung, Managing Director and CRA Officer at New Omni Bank. “Many are the first in their families to attend college and bring remarkable determination and resilience. Our team members were honored to review the scholarship applications and were truly inspired by the students’ stories and commitment to their education. Through this program, we hope to help remove financial barriers and support their paths forward.”

Opening Doors to Higher Education

The 2025 scholarship recipients are now pursuing their academic journeys at some of the nation’s most respected institutions, including Harvard University, USC, UC Berkeley, UCLA, UC Irvine, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Carnegie Mellon University, and more.

Their success reinforces New Omni Bank’s commitment to expanding access to higher education for students who may face financial barriers.

Looking Ahead to 2026

With our renewed $20,000 contribution, the scholarship program will continue to support students who aspire to pursue higher education and make a positive impact in their communities. Through our partnership with APCF, we are able to ensure the program reaches students who need it most, while maintaining a fair, transparent, and community-driven selection process.

“As a community bank, our responsibility goes beyond financial services,” Leon added. “Investing in education is one of the most meaningful ways we can support long-term economic mobility and strengthen the communities we serve.”
